Yoga & Creativity

Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.

— Rumi

“The purpose of Yoga is to awaken the creative aspect of head, heart and hands. Once these are balanced the creativity which takes place in external life influences the life within.” -Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati
Often, when we think of Yoga, we think of physical postures, or of people seated serenely in meditation. Yoga, as a life science, however, is truly a means of awakening our full creative potential, and it offers a wide variety of practices (well beyond asana) to this end. This day retreat offers an exploration and experience of some of these other, lesser known, Yogic practices. We begin with asana and pranayama to liven the body and awaken energy; we delve into the use of sound vibration through mantra and chanting to shift into our center; we enter the openness of deep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) from which creativity sprouts; and we share in the collective creation of Yantra (geometrical power symbol). Come explore, tune out and tap in, connect, expand and express your creative juices!
Lunch and tea are provided. Please bring a bottle of water and comfortable clothing for practice.
Level: all
No previous experience in Yoga or creative expression (drawing, painting, singing etc..) necessary!
